Mother Road Market has partnered with Animal Aid of Tulsa and we are thrilled to announce that we will be hosting a pop up on Saturday, April 20th near the interior mural. We will have Animal Aid merchandise, information, and a display of our adorable adoptables! We will have information on volunteering, fostering, and our mission. Come out and see us at the Mother Road Market!
At Animal Aid of Tulsa we are dedicated to saving sick, injured, and abused stray animals. Founded in 1961, we are Tulsa’s oldest rescue. Our mission at Animal Aid is not just to save these animals, but to find them loving homes and fight for the rights of companion animals. Most rescues cannot afford to take on these expensive medical cases, every dollar donated goes straight to our vet bills so that we can continue to be a service to our community, and stand ready to take in these animals that do not have owners and need immediate medical attention.
Animal Aid History: Animal Aid was founded in 1961 by Helen Dawson, who started this rescue with just a station wagon and blanket, when there were no animal welfare laws in Tulsa. She first rescued a dog laying outside of a building on a freezing day. Helen learned quickly these animals needed medical attention and started working with the local vets. Very soon after they started rescuing they had quite a bit of medical expenses, so they decided to have garage sales to help with these costs. A few years later the Animal Aid thrift store was established, and it is still one of our main sources of fundraising to this day.
