Hungary Like the Wolf

Do you fancy yourself an adventurous eater and drinker? Are you constantly looking for your new favorite wine and food? Are you a fan of Chicken and the Wolf? Have you always wanted to travel to the Hungarian wine region but just haven't gotten around to it? Well, you are in luck, my friends!

Please join us at Mother Road Market in the Demonstration Kitchen for "Hungary Like the Wolf"! This will be a fun and educational evening filled with delicious food provided by Philip Phillips from Chicken and the Wolf and unique Hungarian wines provided by Thirst Wine Merchants.

Aside from delicious food and drinks, Travis Smith (owner of Rooted Selections Wine Importers) will educate the class on the wine regions of Hungary and answer any questions you may about these unique and delicious varietals. You won't leave...Hungary.

Appetizer - Crispy chicken skins with pickled watermelon, mint, and microgreens
Wine Pairing: Carpinus Furmint Intense citrus bouquet with afresh and fruity taste, rich minerality and beautiful acidity throughout the nose and palate. A well balanced, elegant, crisp wine, with a hint of residual sugar.

Wine Pairing: Vida Kadarka Kadarka is the oldest historic vine variety cultivated in the Szekszárdwine growing area. With its playful spicy fragrances, not too heavy but distinct bouquet, this wine is able to enchant anybody. Planted in 1920 the Öregtőkék vineyard is one of the oldest Kadarka vineyards in Hungary.

Wine Pairing: Sebestyén Kadarka. Kadarkais one the most ancient varieties of the famed Szekszárd region in the south of Hungary. These wines have played an undoubted role in the establishment of Hungarian red wine culture. Grapes are harvested partly from old vines giving elegance and minerality as well as from young vines giving refreshment. It is a light-bodied wine with gentle tannins. Full of raspberries and cherries on the palate, violets, and spices on the nose. It begs to be drunk!

Wine Pairing: Medium dry cider from 100% fresh farm pressed Estonian apples. The juice is pressed on-site and wild yeast is used for the primary fermentation. Bottle fermented according to the traditional champagne method. Golden cider with fine long-lasting bubbles. The naturally born bubbles are elegant and complement the palate perfectly. Suitable for fancy parties as well as for lazy summer picnics. 2017 Gold Medal at the Great Lakes Cider & Perry Competition.
