SUSHI Master Class presented by Chefs Bill and Mikael! Students will experience making Sushi, rolling sushi, preparing and cooking Soba noodles, preparing tempura shrimp and vegetables as well as strengthening knife skills. They will also learn about Japanese culture and terms and how to set-up a buffet to present their prepared culinary achievements. 

Activities Includes:

• Introduction to Japanese Culture and terms

• Preparing proper Sushi (Rice Prep) and ingredients for Maki and Uramaki Rolls

• Making Soba noodles and light mirin soy sauce

• Mixing Tempura batter and proper frying technique with vegetables and shrimp

• Green Tea Ice Cream Floats with Japanese Soda

• Aprons for each new student will be provided to take home.

On August 8, from 11am-5pm, you can stop by the Demo Kitchen at Mother Road Market with your kiddos to drop off gently used books and browse for new ones to finish out summer! Our friends from Reading Partners will be on hand to share details about their program and help stock the books for swapping 📚 Additionally, Cleats for Kids will have a pop-up that you can donate gently used sporting equipment and shoes ⚽️

Learn how to bring a no-maintenance piece of natural art into your home at our next workshop! The staff from Southwood Home & Garden will provide all the elements needed and help you to spur your creativity. Best of all, you will take home a one of a kind preserved moss and grapewood art piece to display in your home or office!

• One 12” x 12” wood frame with a unique piece of grapewood pre-attached

• Natural bark

• Adhesive

• Disposable gloves (optional)

The small print:

• This is a hands-on workshop. Please be aware that participants will be touching mosses and wood. The classroom does have a sink for washing hands and disposable gloves will be available. Please dress accordingly.

• The workshop will be held in the Demonstration Kitchen, these are the doors across from Akira. Each ticket holder will complete one preserved moss frame art piece to take home.

• Remember, you can also make it a full evening by grabbing dinner and drinks in the food hall before the workshop begins.

Southwood is excited to offer another fun way to bring living décor into your home. Anthuriums bring an eye-catching distinctive beauty to any room. As an epiphyte, a nonparasitic plant that grows on other plants, anthurium plants grow naturally on trees in their forested tropical habitat. By mounting an anthurium in its natural growing state on a plaque of wood, you will have a living art piece to hang on your wall! Please join us on Saturday, July 26th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm and learn how to mount an anthurium of your very own!
